Pole Buildings & Construction in North Spokane County & Stevens County

Mead, WAColbert, WAChattaroy, WADeer Park, WANine Mile Falls, WAChewelah, WAColville, WA

North of Spokane, properties get bigger and winters get longer. From Mead and Colbert up through Chattaroy and Deer Park, and on into Stevens County around Chewelah and Colville, we build for rural and semi-rural owners who need serious, durable space: barns, big shops, equipment storage and custom homes on acreage.

These projects come with more variables than a city lot: longer driveways, wells and septic to work around, slopes, and more snow. We walk the site before we draw anything, so the building is planned around the land instead of fighting it.

What We Build in North Spokane County & Stevens County

Pole barns and horse barns

Horse barns, hay barns, livestock shelters and equipment sheds, with stall layouts, lean-tos and door configurations planned around how you'll actually use the building.

Large shops and equipment storage

Clear-span post-frame shops for tractors, trucks, RVs and hobby work, with insulation and heat for year-round use when you need it.

Custom homes on acreage

Custom homes built for rural lots, coordinating site prep, foundations and utilities. We also do construction drafting if you need permit-ready plans.

Permits & Building Codes

Most of this area is unincorporated Spokane County, so permits typically go through Spokane County Building & Planning. The City of Deer Park has its own process, and properties around Chewelah and Colville fall under Stevens County or those cities. We identify the right office for your parcel up front and prepare the drawings it requires.

As elsewhere, small one-story accessory sheds of 200 square feet or less are generally permit-exempt, but barns, shops and garages above that size need a permit. Some agricultural buildings have special rules, and we'll check what applies to your property.

Snow & Weather Design Considerations

Snow is the big design factor up north. Spokane County's basic minimum ground snow load is 30 psf, but code snow loads increase with elevation and location. Properties in the northern foothills and in Stevens County can face higher requirements than the city. We design to the load your building department requires for your exact site, never a generic number.

Mead Construction FAQs

Do you build pole barns in Deer Park and Mead?

Yes. Mead, Colbert, Chattaroy and Deer Park are all regular service areas for us, and we build pole barns, shops and garages throughout north Spokane County.

Will you travel to Chewelah or Colville?

Yes, we take on projects in Stevens County, including Chewelah and Colville. Give us a call with your location and project size and we'll talk through scheduling.

Are snow loads higher north of Spokane?

They can be. Required snow loads depend on elevation and location, and many sites north of the city have higher requirements than Spokane itself. We engineer each building for the specific load your jurisdiction requires.
